continuing with the sunflower seeds, i just accidentally chomped down on my tongue hard enough to bring tears to my eyes.

out of it.

i am out of it. i was picking up milk (at rite-aid, sadly enough), and saw mac and cheese, and realized i still had mac and cheese at home, which i could now make given that i had just picked up milk. i was very excited about this. i love mac and cheese! and i haven't had it in a long time.

anyway, i went home and checked on my mac and cheese stash. yes, 13 of the 15-pack i bought last fall were still there.

i put the water on and went to watch tv while it heated up. it reached boiling. i opened the box. i took out the cheese packet. i opened the cheese packet. i poured the powdered cheese into the boiling water. it turned yellow and foamed up.

oops.

now i have to wait for another damn pot to boil.

i have a problem.

i've developed an addiction to sunflower seeds. ever since a co-worker brought some by a couple weeks ago, i've been eating them like a fiend. i went off them for about half a week, and then he insisted on getting them today again. my tongue is developing a sore and my gums hurt from the salt.

mmm...

my place is dirty

it's been almost 2 hours and they are still cleaning the bathroom. where they started. either that or i have just never understood thorough cleaning. hmm.

yay!

my new cleaning lady is here. she brought her daughter, which i wasn't really expecting, but i'm sure it's all fine. my co-worker (and the one i particularly revere, at that) has been using her for EIGHT years. i have an appointment, so i'm home, which is a little weird, but hey.

clean apartment! woohoo!

cute!

i just noticed for the first time that the ear/antennae thingies on the little TiVo guy sway/wave/wiggle/move when the tivo is thinking. heh.

i don't like these iPd commercials. the dancing silhouettes are creepy.

i love weho

yesterday, i was in my car stopped at a light, absentmindedly people watching. to my right, a car up, i see someone frantically and intently jujing the back of their hair, making sure that the wispy bits around their neck curled out to the sides just so, so that you could see them from the front. this followed by general attention to the top area of the hair. more care was put into this styling than i have seen anyone do in quite a while.

it was, of course, a guy, and a trendy euro-looking one at that. ah, west hollywood.

hit the deck!!!

we just had a 2 minute power outage. i love all the subsequent announcements that we just had a power outage and not to panic. i saw a woman walking around with a flashlight.

the only bad thing is that i forgot that the monitor goes off even if the laptop is still on, so i hit the power button on my docking station because i thought it was all off and as a result shut down my computer. oh well.

NO PANIC HERE!!!

an ergonomic injury

i asked for an ergonomic keyboard the other day. partially because i saw one sitting around, and partially because my hands hurt after typing for a long time on my laptop. probably mostly because i like toys and gadgets and the one they gave me, a kinesis maxim split keyboard, is all adjustable.

i got the new keyboard today. they also had to put in a new keyboard tray to accommodate the new keyboard, since the old tray was too small.

i like the new keybaord in that it is interesting and funky and i can split it and put it back together again. in this sense, it is like a new toy. however, my left wrist has begun to ache. i think the ergonomic keyboard is hurting me.

mm.

well, after the cleaning lady didn't show up i called. it turns out her husband couldn't go to some meeting for her daughter, and she tried to call me but wrote my phone number down incorrectly, and she wanted to come this saturday but i couldn't do that because i am out of town, and she can't come next wednesday because she works for someone else every other wednesday...

so my place won't be clean for another two weeks. it is tidy, though.

woo-hoo!!

i FINALLY called a cleaning person. she is on her way over and i'm meeting her at 9. i am verry excited, as my place is BADLY in need of a clean. of course, given that i pre-cleaned so that she can actually get to the surface areas of things, it looks better already.

i'm having people over tonight so that i can get it dirty again immediately. yay!

ARGH

i'm sorry. i know i said my next post would be happy, but i'm all unsettled and pissed off right now. apparently we are being billed $1200 for tess's "treatment." they already have $600 of it, which we left on deposit, and the doctor we had talked to said we would probably get a refund. she is still waiting to talk to the director, who is on vacation, so i don't know what's going to happen, but i am pissed at the idea that they might try to collect $1200.

the doctor monday morning so much as told me that tess's chances were very very poor, lower even than the 25% that we'd been told, after being told 75%, and what's worse, that it was inhumane to even keep her alive. she also said that all the doctors there agreed with her and said we should put her down. the doctor who told us to admit tess that day was fucking talking about surgery! she pretty much implied to us that we would be cheap and heartless bastards if we didn't admit her.

so, i don't really care about the money that much, but after: 1) the doctor overmedicated tess (on an interim checkup with someone else, the other doctor thought it was too high and lowered her dosage of hyperthyroid medication), 2) told us she had a 75% oops 25% chance, and even that was apparently too high, and 3) put tess through a lot of painful and uncomfortable treatment when she was really weak -- I AM NOT FUCKING PAYING HER. you don't kill someone's cat and then get paid. this not to mention that her estimate was $1200-1500 for a 3-night stay there, and tess was there only one night. what the hell did she do, admit her and then think up all the different things she could force on her?

anyway. that is all. i feel better after the ranting. thanks.

thanks

glowing kitty.jpg

i suppose it's a little morbid for me to keep posting pictures of my dead kitty, but hey, this is the last one. for now. i think. thanks to everyone who has called, e-mailed or otherwise contacted me about tess. there have been so many random and unexpected tragedies around me lately that i feel a little bad over how upset i've been over this, but, well, i have, so i just wanted to say thanks because it all meant a lot to me.

my next entry will be more upbeat, i promise.
