we walked out of a restaurant for the first time today after waiting for 25 minutes for someone to take our drink order (or any other order). in the time we were sitting, ann made eye contact with various servers and bussers multiple times, and we told someone we were ready to order (the woman told us she would get our server for us, but then another several minutes went by). in the meantime, i watched the couple across the aisle order their appetizers, receive their appetizers, finish their appetizers and wait for their plates to be cleared. so, we walked off. i did get a nice slice of olive bread out of it.
anyway.
it has been a long time since i've posted. in a nutshell, i worked an insane number of hours all year, was really busy up to the first anniversary of my mom's passing, which sucked, and then when i was going to take a vacation and visit my newly born niece, my law firm fell apart and i had to stay in town to interview. unfortunately the group i work(ed) with went to a firm with no LA office -- so there was no opportunity to follow unless i wanted to move (i did not). so, i am interviewing. it is a bad market. fingers crossed. i hope to have a new job within a couple weeks. at least the paychecks are still coming for the time being.
i mean, i think (and hope) that we will all be fine. we are very worried about staff. some paralegals are being snatched up all over the place, but we have a lot of pretty senior legal secretaries who are really good -- but who are now flooding a bad market. if you know of anyone who needs legal staff, let me know.
on a happier note, i have about a week between the first round of interviews and the next round of follow-up interviews, so i'm going to drive up to fresno today and visit my baby niece, as well as my (not so baby anymore) nephews for a few days. yay! they are cute.
cheers, i hope you all are well.
